Supporting the arts, one artist at a time

Hanna Blount

An inspired designer and jeweler who makes what she designs, Hannah Blount graduated from Nantucket High School in 2004, the same year she was awarded her Nantucket Arts Council Scholarship.

Hannah used the funds toward her education at UMass Dartmouth, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2008 after studying to be a metalsmith, a skill that had interested her since the age of six.

The gratitude Hannah felt for the support she received from our island community encouraged her to worked diligently at college, resulting in UMass Dartmouth awarding her another scholarship for the upkeep of her jeweler’s studio in Boston’s South End.

“[The scholarship] meant a lot because it was coming from an art community that saw potential in me and invested in me,” she said. “It meant a lot.”

Hannah Blount successfully earns a living doing full-time what she loves best: designing and making jewelry.
